Animal portraits commissioned for oil and acrylic paintings of dogs, cats, and horses.
Each portrait is individually had painted in either oils or acrylics on stretched canvas. Upon completion each painting is treated with a special finishing varnish which will insure it lasting for many years without fading and will also enable cleaning without harming the painting
The size is usually 16" x 20" but, may vary slightly depending on the animal, pose, or number of animals in the portrait. Other sizes are available on request
The price of each portrait is $250.00 plus packing and shipping (usually $35.00). There is a $60.00 charge for each additional animal in the portrait. A non-refundable deposit of $125.00 is required when the painting is commissioned. Upon completion a clear photograph of the portrait will be sent to you for approval. At that time the balance of $125.00 plus the $35.00 packing and shipping charges are due. Your portrait will be shipped, via insured UPS, upon receipt of the final payment.
Framing is available from Summerhill Studios. The cost for our standard matting and frame is $70.00. Specialized custom framing is also available.
Before starting your portrait I will want to have a telephone conversation with you about your pet. The painting is done from good quality photographs (sharp and exposed correctly). It's important the photos show the eyes clearly and the animal is in a pose which you would like your portrait to be. If possible I like having a very small actual hair sample to be able to get the true color. I always want people to understand that while I'm the artist, were really working together to produce a true heirloom to honor the love you have for your pet. Along the way many friendships have developed and I'm eternally grateful for so many words of praise from clients I've work with.
